A place rooted in the sea, connected by its people and surrounded by the beauty of Newfoundland’s south coast.
Our story
Shaped by the sea.
Hermitage and Sandyville sit on Newfoundland’s south coast, between Hermitage Bay and Connaigre Bay. Sheltered water, rolling hills and fishing stages are part of the everyday landscape.
Hermitage was incorporated in 1963. Sandyville, formerly Dawson’s Cove, joined in 1969. The fishery remains woven into local life, alongside aquaculture and other industries.
Our communities share a history of work on the water and a lasting connection to the coast.
